Crazzzzy about Koi!

Heyyyyyyy!!!!

A lot of my work is inspired by HOME KONG!!! I've lived here for 35 years and I have been hugely influenced by the culture. My work reflects the dynamism & energy of the city and I use many HK symbols and icons in my work.

The double happiness symbol, "囍" (pronounced shuāngxǐ, 双喜) in Mandarin is comprised of 喜喜 – two copies of the Chinese character 喜 (pronounced xǐ), which means joy and happiness. It’s commonly used as a Chinese wedding symbol to represent double the joy and happiness for the newlyweds as they begin their marriage.

According to Feng Shui, a fish represents wealth and prosperity because the actual word in Chinese for fish, in Pinyin: yú, 魚, also translates to “abundance” 裕 Pinyin: yù. Twin golden carp symbolizes wealth and abundance, but love, domesticity, partnership, tenacity, fertility, hence renewal is symbolized.
A pair of fish is also one of the Eight Buddhist Symbols!
