OMGGGGGGG!!!! It's official...I am obsessed with bunting!!!!

Heyyyyyyy!!!!
I was curious about its origins...

Bunting was originally created from a specific type of lightweight worsted wool fabric generically known as ‘tammy’ it was manufactured around the turn of the 17th century and used for making ribbons and flags, including signal flags for the Royal Navy. The fabric has a high glaze, achieved by a process including hot-pressing.

The origin of the word is uncertain, but “bunt” means colourful in German. The term ‘bunting’ is also used to refer to a collection of flags, particularly those of a ship. The officer responsible for raising signals using flags is known as ‘bunts’, a term still used for a ship's communications officer today apparently!

Quite why and when bunting made the transition from communication tool to festive decor is unclear, but I suspect it’s simply because it looks pretty and makes you smile, which is probably why it’s now a commonplace interior accessory and not just for celebrations.

Let me know if you’d like more info about my creations!! I have different fabrics, colours, lengths, and prices!!
We all need bunting in our lives!!!
